FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

What cabling category should I install in a new office fit-out?

For most new commercial fit-outs we recommend Cat 6a as the baseline (10 Gbps over 100 m, future-proofed for PoE++ devices). Cat 6 is fine for smaller offices on lower budgets. For high-bandwidth needs (broadcast, dense AV, data centres) we may recommend Cat 7 or fibre to the desk. We assess based on user count, density and likely tech roadmap.

Do you handle the AV side as well as the cabling?

Yes. The Networks & AV service covers structured cabling, fibre, Wi-Fi and AV installation as one integrated discipline. Screens, mounts, control systems, video conferencing endpoints, microphones, digital signage and room control are all in scope, designed and installed alongside the data infrastructure.

Are your installations certified to BS EN 50173?

Yes. Avero FM Approved network contractors install to BS EN 50173 and TIA-568 standards, with permanent link and channel certification using industry standard test equipment. Test results are provided as part of the handover documentation and stored in Avero FM Works for warranty purposes.

Can you do Wi-Fi surveys before installation?

Yes. Pre-installation wireless surveys identify coverage gaps, interference and optimum access point placement. Post-installation surveys validate signal strength and capacity. We use both predictive and on-site surveys depending on the building and stakes.

Do you support moves, adds and changes (MACs) as ongoing service?

Yes. MAC programmes are part of our reactive and PPM service. New desk drops, screen relocations, patch changes, rack reorganisation, all logged in Avero FM Works and dispatched against agreed SLAs. Particularly useful for growing offices or hot-desking environments.
